We're in a Fake Thinking World

We are living in a fake thinking world. What do I mean by that?

Most of the content and material that we see on the internet is not an output of human thinking. It is an output of thinking outsourced to AI.

It is not noticeable right now - because of gaps in the creativity of how an AI tool writes. But with time that will change. AI will start writing more creative and more human like pieces of content. And then this flood of content will increase more.

But my point is not with respect to AI writing. It is for AI outsourced thinking. It is not a problem that we are using AI to write things. But it is a problem that we do not give it a second thought about what it writes.

We think giving the first prompt is what the most thinking that you could have done. And AI's first answer, when broadly aligned with your thoughts, is the correct one. When was the last time when your first thought was the best and most holistic one?

AI follows the same rule. But the problem is even deeper.

We have let go of the line where our thinking ends and where AI starts. Usually it's supposed to be a good thing, but in this case it is not, because just like any other thing in this universe, entropy applies to everything.

What you do not use? Dies.

And that's what I think is happening with most of the people. They've relied on the thoughts generated by AI so much that that line, where you question everything including your own thoughts, and now the thoughts generated by AI have significantly reduced.

You might feel very exhilarating right now because the thoughts and the capacity to think about so many domains even about those which you do not have experience about - now it is there with you. It wasn't the case before.

You think it is happening in the private conversations that you are having with AI, and nobody is aware of that line with respect to what's your original thought and what's a thought of an AI.

But with time, instead of helping, it will take away that ability to think unless you really, really understand what thinking is all about. It's not about the answers. It's not about the ideas. It's not about the new technology. It's not about knowing obscure facts; it's not even about knowing things that nobody knows.

It's about questioning things in the ways they have not been questioned before, looking at things from the perspectives they've not been seen through yet. That is where original thinking lies.
